Yesterday and today, the 5th Grade Chorus students presented their World Music Projects for the class. Their presentations included a powerpoint presentation, poster, written summary, food, clothing, and music examples from various countries around the world. Countries presented were: Canada, Norway, Italy, Australia, America, India, Brazil, France, Ireland, Jamaica, and Egypt. I am proud of the students' hard work and commitment to learning about the traditions, cultures, and music of other countries this semester!
The GWA Middle and High School Choirs recently attended the Atlanta Opera performance of "Pirates of Penzance" at Spivey Hall. The students learned what it takes to be an opera singer and the history behind this entertaining operetta!
Our first week of 2016 has been a busy one! Here's what the chorus classes are learning this week at GWA:
5th Grade Chorus: World Music Projects and Grandparents' Day Songs Middle School Chorus: Six Flags Competition and Dessert Theatre Repertoire, Treble/Bass Clef Review High School Chorus: Musical Theatre Performance and Literary Competition Music We are lucky to be so close to such a wonderful performance venue - the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. Today we had the chance to see Wicked the Musical at the Fox preceded by lunch at The Varsity. "What'll ya have?" A Fabulous Day! This year, we collaborated with the Walton County Music Guild for their Christmas Collage Program, featuring musicians from all across Walton County. It is so important to build our relationships with other members of the community. Great job everyone!
Our Fourth Annual Dessert Theatre performance was a hit again this year. We sold out the seating for both performances. This year our theme was Disney Dazzle, featuring all of our favorite Disney classics. Check out these cute characters!
This week in 5th grade chorus we are preparing for next week's auditions for 101 Dalmatians!
Check out these cute pups! Our first performance of the year started off with "The Star Spangled Banner" at the Ice Cream Social Followed by the Ice Bucket Challenge! We were challenged by the GWA Bulldog Band. A Great Event! Here you can see us preparing to sing as well as the video of our challenge! Next Wednesday we will have our auditions for Seussical the Musical! This involves our 7th and 8th grade chorus students. Several students have taken home books to prepare and we hope everyone will try for a part! Auditions will be held during class. |
