The Dessert Theatre Program is definitely one of my favorite productions each year. I love to see the students get on stage and have a blast singing the songs they love. I am also very impressed with the amount of students who tried out for solos this year. Way to go!

With a growing number of students interested in college and professional music, we have increased our music theory study to keep on track with students around the state of Georgia. What a beautiful tribute to our troops as the students sing "Thank You Soldiers"
The sixth grade chorus celebrated the return to school with a pool party at J.Paul's home! Special thanks to J.Paul and the Ivey family for hosting us. This was a fantastic week for all the chorus students. We have learned enough in sectionals to start putting the parts together as a class. Strongest songs so far are "Addams Family,"(6th) "Alice's Theme,"(7th and 8th) and "Skyfall" (HS). This has been quite an eventful week in chorus! Students are starting to get used to the new curriculum with theory, sight singing and composition time on Tuesdays and Thursdays and repertoire learning on Mondays and Wednesdays and Fridays. If the kids work hard during the week they can earn a "Free Day Friday" every other week. There has been some complaining about having to do "more work" but I tell the kids it's like eating their veggies. It may not taste as good but it is good for them :). Students are starting to get excited about solo and small group songs that they get to pick for the dessert theatre and ask every day for time to practice in class. A new group of 5th graders checked out chorus this week and we hope they will join our chorus family! |
